Here is an excerpt from my new novel:
No longer able to keep myself upright, I fall onto my side. I let myself succumb to exhaustion and my eyes flutter shut. My body and mind shut down, no longer able to fight. I feel as though I am in death’s grasp. Never in my life, did I think that this was the way I was going to die. I thought I’d die fighting, not giving up and welcoming death.
“Cas!” I hear a distant shout. “Oh my, Cas! Are you alright?” I hear a car door slam and footsteps running across the pavement, closer to where I lie.
I ignore the shouting and let my mind go into nothingness, a void of life.
My main character is a strong, hard to tame girl. Her name is Cas. So, the fact that she gave up and accepted the help of another is a big deal for her. It’s a moment of weakness, the weakness that she refuses to show to anybody in the fear of being hurt.
I know a lot of people are like that. I know that is how I am but there comes a point in everyone’s lives where they find that one person they trust and let in. More often than not, that person breaks the trust and takes years after to prove they won’t ever break it again. That is how my two main characters are in my new novel.
